![]() Too many games are throwaway experiences, meant to distract your mind for a few hours in the evening after a long day at work. Even then, the game poses many important philosophical questions about what it means to be human, leaving The Talos Principle lodged in your memory. ![]() To go into depth about the plot of The Talos Principle would be to ruin the experience the guys at Croteam have paced it out perfectly so that the curtain raises ever so slowly, inch by inch, until the big picture is eventually revealed. You’re helpless to counteract them, meaning there’s extra impetus on you to work out the rhythm of the puzzle. It’s your quest to track down and locate sigils and pieces from treacherous and chin-stroking mazes filled to the brim with things that want to make you dead. Most of the buttons aren’t in use as you guide a nameless android through challenging areas at the behest of a voice from the sky known as Elohim. Croteam, who you might be familiar with for their work on Serious Sam, haven’t cut any corners to bring this to console. It’s simply sumptuous – instead of spending time solving puzzles, I would often find myself gazing out at an unreachable horizon and soaking in the rich environments. Initially released in December last year for PC, The Talos Principle has been given the PlayStation 4 treatment without losing anything in the way of performance. However, The Talos Principle could prove to be the game that changes my mind. When they crop up in games where puzzles shouldn’t really belong to pad out the playtime, my eyes instantly start to roll and a very British tut comes out of my mouth. I pick up a controller mainly as an escape, not to feel like a dumbass. The Talos Principle 2 launches later this year on PlayStation 5.I hate puzzle games. The Talos Principle 2’s narrative is itself a puzzle to be solved, and any player who dedicates themselves to digging up its deepest, darkest secrets will have their inquisitiveness rewarded. You’ll also be directly involved in its complex, character-driven story, making decisions that can lead to multiple endings. If your brain is overheating and you need a break from puzzling, there are buried secrets and an entire forgotten history to unearth in the game’s vast, haunting world. You’ll visit several all-new locations including a city on the brink of a paradigm shift and the varied landscapes of an island that holds the keys to the future. These are the biggest, strangest, and most beautiful environments Croteam has ever made, taking full advantage of the latest in graphics tech. The Talos Principle 2 is a giant leap forward for the series-particularly the world design. ![]() Just watch out for the optional Gold puzzles, because they will melt your brain. You can finish the game without solving every puzzle, but those seeking true mastery can attempt to conquer them all. The Talos Principle 2 will feel familiar but fresh at the same time. The sequel builds on the first-person 3D puzzle design of the original game, including using refractors to direct beams of light and creating copies of yourself to trigger switches and bypass obstacles.īut these established puzzles are also joined by new gameplay including gravity manipulation and mind transference-but we’ll let you discover these intricacies of these unique mechanics for yourself. There are, naturally, puzzles to solve here as well: and with varying levels of difficulty to suit any player. It wants you to think-but not only about its epic narrative. Pretty heavy, right? The Talos Principle 2 doesn’t pull any punches when it comes to the depth of its story. You embark on a quest to investigate a mysterious megastructure, and along the way you’ll be confronted with questions about the nature of the cosmos, faith versus reason, and the fear of repeating humankind’s mistakes. Your adventure in The Talos Principle 2 begins in an era where humanity as we know it has long gone extinct, but our culture lives on in a world inhabited by robots made in our image. More mind-bending puzzles to solve, more surreal environments to explore, more secrets to uncover, a deeper story to lose yourself in, and bigger questions to boggle your brain. ![]() It will greatly (and we mean greatly) expand on everything that made the original special. The Talos Principle 2, launching on PlayStation 5 later this year, is the long-awaited sequel to this beloved puzzle game. ![]()
